The phrase, “Mental health” has been sprawling along the tide when COVID-19 has arised rapidly on March this year. Many people have been suffering and many were also unaware that they too have been experiencing a multitude of feelings and emotions due to fear of the disease and the effects of quarantine. Good thing today we are grateful to have the latest technology that helps us stay connected and stay sane during this uncertain time. Most people nowadays are spending as much time as they can on their mobile phones, browsing on social media, watching movies and series on Netflix, doing video calls with loved ones and the like. But sometimes all these seems just not enough. Personally, I’ve experienced this myself doing so many things in a day yet there will always be some moments where I begin experiencing the cabin fever. We all strive to stay sane and protect our mental health.
One day, I was sitting on my couch thinking hard on what else could I do to ease the feeling of isolation. Take note, I’m a very busy person who does a humungous load of stuff on a daily basis but still there were moments when I get trapped within. In that moment I deeply thought, what else could I do? I’ve done almost everything. Then a silent whisper came to my head: Live streaming.
Eureka! My head lightened and my eyes grew big in excitedness and amazement. I began to plan out what short topic do I talk about or should I create a plan or not.
That’s why I’m here to share with you one of the effective ways I know that can help keep our hopes up and stay connected with the world. That is: Live streaming. Live streaming has existed for quite some time now and many folks have been using it for both personal and business use. Live streaming doesn’t have to be scripted. Often times the fear of going live is what holds us back. Honestly, it took me a while to have the guts and finally start going live and talk about anything under the sun. Well planning is also essential here but sometimes; we have to end the analysis paralysis and just go live. You don’t need to be as good as Oprah to host your own show just right at your fingertips. All you need to do is have a mobile phone with a selfie camera and you’re good to go. We fear what to say, how to prevent dead air, how to keep on talking with sense, and the magic question: Who will watch me? If we put all these fears behind us then just BEGIN it will totally make a difference and we will feel less alone. In live streaming you get either live viewers – those who comment on your stream or replay viewers who watch and react to your live stream afterwards.
Hint: There are more viewers in the replay so it’s a must to be your best at the beginning of your stream.
The beauty of live streaming is that it gives you a new sense of purpose and something to look forward to each time you go live. It would be pretty cool to be talking to your viewers who are liking, or commenting on your stream while you are at it. It builds trust and helps you gain more confidence on camera. You will develop better connections with people and it will give you a more diverse atmosphere of freedom. Mental health matters.
Going live can make wonders for your mental health. Finally, I’m happy to say that I’m lovin’ live streaming.
