Have you ever been in that state where you feel like you can’t connect properly with God?
It feels like your prayers are dry and God isn’t speaking to you. Don’t worry, this happens to me too, and it’s normal. A few months ago, I came up with a unique way to hold on to God’s promises.
If you’ve read my previous blog post about How I use stationery stickers to build my daily writing habit then this blog has almost the same idea like this one.
So, I bought faith-based typography stickers that have different designs from Shopee. From the very moment I saw them online I was sure that I’m going to buy them! After purchasing these pretty typography stickers, I placed them on my bed and stared at them for a while because I didn’t know yet when or how to use them. As I sat on my bed, I tried imagining themes in my head where I will create a beautiful bullet journal page by sticking one or two of these stickers to add inspiration on each page but still, I didn’t do it. I came up with a better idea instead.
I placed all of these faith-based stationary stickers on a zippered bag and then each day I took one out. I thought of it like a daily inspiration or word of God for me each day. I realized that I read scripture every day but I tend to forget God’s promises. I forget the most loving and reassuring lines from the bible which were present on these stationary stickers. So, each day I took one out feeling excited about what I would get. After reading each creatively designed verse by the typography artist, I would stare at the sticker for a while, reread it over and over again until it dwells in my heart. I either read it in the morning or evening. Sometimes I read it twice a day, in the morning and in the evening.
I made sure to carry the thought of it with me all throughout my day.
As I continued to do this something interesting happened. One night, I picked a sticker from my zipper bag and this is what I got: The Lord is my shepherd there is nothing I lack. Then surprise, surprise when I read the daily readings in the bible the following morning the reading was from Psalms 23, The Lord, Shepherd and Host
“The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I lack. In green pastures you let me graze; to safe water, you lead me; you restore my strength. You guide me along the right path for the sake of your name. Even when I walk through a dark valley, I fear no harm for you are at my side; your rod and staff give me courage. You set a table before me as my enemies watch; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Only goodness and love will pursue me all the days of my life; I will dwell in the house of the Lord for years to come.”
I was so thrilled as I read it. I read it twice and it made me dwell on it more. For some reason, the part “there is nothing I lack” made me feel contented all throughout my day. I reread it again during the evening and as I reflected it felt like the reading was telling me that “I am enough”. I don’t lack love, skills, or expertise because God is my shepherd watching over me.
So that’s it! I hope you enjoyed reading this and I hope stationery stickers will help you reflect and meditate on God’s word daily.
