Bee Happy with Burt’s Bees: A Hand Salve and Lip Balm story

Posted on June 20, 2022June 20, 2022 by Nini Dizon

Let me tell you a story. Once upon a time, I daydreamed about Burt’s Bees Hand Salve when I was young. I recall staring at a pretty round tin container in my hands with its signature logo and branding of a farmer in the middle. I was inside a beauty store back then but I did not have the means yet in buying it. I would smile at the hand salve and put it back on the shelves. I remember holding it up once towards the light to get a better picture of it and I instantly fell in love. In my young eyes, I already knew that their products are filled with all the goodness of the earth even if I haven’t fully read the label yet.

All I knew back then was that the products they were providing will be good food for my skin. I never knew that it would be the start of my being engrossed with natural beauty products. Whenever I would visit the beauty store and hold the hand salve in my hands it’s as if I’m visiting a lovely garden where the farmers take me on a tour towards showing where their hard work pays off−on these little tin cans. I knew that one day I’ll have one so my story doesn’t end there it’s just about to begin. Fast forward to today I now have Burt’s Bees Hand Salve in my hands plus the Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip balm. It’s like a dream come true! Now the story continues, with my experience of their products to tell you.

Before I uncover with you my experience in conversing with Burt Bees Hand Salve and Beeswax Lip balm let me walk you through a bit about the company itself. Burt’s Bees is known as an “Earth-friendly, Natural Personal Care Company providing natural skin care products. They do not use harsh chemicals. Their headquarters is located in Durham, NC, and their products are distributed across the globe. Burt’s Bees products are lip balms, makeup, facial skincare, body care, mama and baby, and of course, let’s not forget Burt’s classics. They are famous for their hand salve and lippies which I am about to share with you in a moment! They also have a foundation called the Burt’s Bees Greater Good Foundation which focuses on supporting grassroots initiatives at the intersection of human and honeybee health.

Now let’s take a tour of two of Burt’s Bees classics

First off is Burt’s Bees Hand Salve. The Burt’s Bee’s Hand salve has a smooth and silky light yellow finish placed on its pretty recyclable tin can container. It’s love at first sight! It contains 100% natural origin with responsibly sourced beeswax. It’s not just attractive on the outside but it tells you that your skin will receive only the finest beeswax pampering for your hands. Their logo tells us about the simplicity of how a Burt’s Bees product all began from farmers harvesting the beeswax. What I like about Burt’s Bee’s Hand Salve is the peppermint scent that not only relaxes my hands but also my head because of the seemingly therapeutic benefits it has.

The majority of Burt’s Bees fragrances are natural, composed of proprietary blends of essential oils and natural extracts. Dabbing on the solid mixture and dressing it in my hands gives it the attention and love that they need. If you’ve been following my blog posts I’ve mentioned before that I have CTS or Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and one of my unconscious realizations which also came from the help of mentors was to take care of my hands more. One of these is massaging Burt’s Bees Hand Salve on my tired hands after work or when I’m simply relaxing. As I massage my hands gently, I give it some self-talk by expressing my love and gratitude for it. The more that I massage my hands and wrists gently and talk to it the more that I noticed that the pain went away. CTS doesn’t really get cured it stays with you but since I gave it the attention it’s asking for it became kind to me as well. I just needed to learn how to manage it and avoid the activities that will trigger it.

Often times I use Burt’s Bees Hand Salve during the evening before I go to sleep so that all throughout the night it moisturizes my hands. It’s a bit oily in the beginning but it dries off over time. I wake up then with the thin layer of its shiny oil gone leaving only my hands pretty, moisturized, and clearer. I like that it’s easy to carry on my bag too! It’s also a good investment because it’s non-spill, unlike lotions. Don’t let its size fool you because this Hand Salve placed in a tiny tin can be used for a long time! I’ve been using mine for quite a while now and it seems to me that it’ll take more than a year before it gets empty! Plus, you might also want to preserve the tin can for other future uses. One reason why it was easy for me to decide to buy this is that I often buy products where a part of my skin has less allergic reaction.

So that would be my hands and lips. Speaking of lips!  Now let’s talk about lip balms! I’m so excited!

For the love of beeswax and peppermint here we go! Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm with Vitamin E and Peppermint is a lip savior. I love lip balms, lipsticks, all and everything about lippies! With Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm, its simple yellow lip balm container is packed with a powerful peppermint scent. It’s white in color and you’ll fall in love with the peppermint scent that moves with the air. What I like about this is that after you swipe some onto your lips it slowly leaves a cold and icy feeling on your lips which makes me feel like a superhero for a reason I don’t know why.

Their lip balms are not as smooth to apply on the lips unlike other lip balms but I guess it is what makes them good because it’s all-natural. I think it’s also an advantage though that it works well under lipstick or lip gloss. I’ve tried it and it sets perfectly leaving a tight finish of the color setting on the lips. I also admire its minimalist no brag design. One thing that I also noticed is that it instantly repairs chapped lips. I occasionally have chapped lips and when I applied some, the dead skin cells slowly and gently fall off easily providing instant healing and moisture that’s matte and not oily. What’s also interesting about Burt’s Bees cool lip balm is that after I apply some on my lips, I can taste some of the slight cool peppermint slowly melting towards my tongue.

Lastly, just a secret between you and me, sometimes I just smell this lip balm when I feel like I’m about to have a headache thinking that it would relieve the pain. Or I just simply enjoy mastering its scent for no reason at all.

Burt’s Bees Hand Salve and Beeswax lip balm are a perfect duo. Especially if it’s your first time buying a Burt’s Bees product and you seemed overwhelmed with their many super good products, these can be your first set to try. Their global ingredients are made in the USA and are recommended to be used within 12 months after opening. They are also committed to no animal testing. Burt’s Bees products are a bit pricey but they are a worth it investment because there is no harsh chemical involved in the production of their products. When you see a Burt’s Bees product you want to try them all.

Enjoy their relaxing scents and beautiful skin-friendly benefits. I’ve been using these two products for quite a while now and I’m delighted that my lip and hands are happy. Now the once young me is really happy. She doesn’t only smile temporarily and return products to a shelf but she is happy, truly and freely all because of Burt’s Bees. And that my friends, is my happy ending. What’s your Bee Happy with Burt’s Bees story? Share it with me in the comments. I’m so excited to try out the rest of their products and tell you all about them.
