How Affirmation Stickers Can Help Build Better Family Relationships

Posted on February 3, 2022 by Nini Dizon

Lovely February!

As promised, here is my next blog about affirmation stickers!

If you’ve read my recent blog post entitled How Affirmation Stickers Can Help You Have A Positive Outlook In Life then most probably you know by now what is the next stuff that I’ll be talking about.

It’s good to start the year by affirming ourselves day by day and one thought that came to mind is not just to affirm ourselves but to affirm those who are around us.

We are still in a pandemic and I know that it’s hard to interact with friends and other people outside. So, why not start it in your own homes with your families?

We don’t know yet when this pandemic will be over but you can play a game with your family and loved ones at home through affirmation stickers. Yes, you read that right! Affirmation stickers. You may ask how?

Let’s get to it!

So aside from the “I am’s” affirmation stickers that I bought from my friend Izh, I also bought along “You are” stickers. Examples are You are Loved, You are Forgiven, You are Seen and the list goes on…

I remember looking at these stickers wondering how do I use them since I already used up all the “I am’s” stickers.

Here’s my idea: Give it to my family members instead!

So, I gathered all my stickers together in a bag and asked each of my family members to pick three.

When it was my mother’s turn, she got “You are Enough”. She read it out loud and smiled at it and I felt that affirmation made her happy.

Doing this short and quick activity made me realize a lot of things afterward.

First, your family is your first ministry. Before serving others, you serve them first.

Second, if you grew up in a family where affirmation lacks or is not present at all, doing this simple activity can do a lot in terms of building family relationships.

Lastly, what’s nothing to lose with just a piece of affirmation sticker? I don’t have a scientific basis for this but if you would observe the actions of people when you ask them to pick something they would automatically do it. Well, there might be some hesitancy or questioning at first but I’m sure their curiosity won’t let them sleep not unless they understand what it’s about. They may not react to it in a way just like how my mother did but somehow you can take it as a baby step towards affirming your family members and building better relationships. Sometimes people forget who they are. They sometimes forget their worth. They forget they are created in the image and likeness of God. They forget to give themselves a pat on the shoulder for a job well done. They forget to affirm themselves and you can help them get back on track.

So, to you my dear reader let me tell you this:

You are Loved

You are Worthy

You are Enough

You are God’s Masterpiece

You are Seen

You are Gifted

You are Beautiful

You are Saved

You are Healed

You are Forgiven

Not only have I thought of this game/activity as a pick from the bag thingy but a million ideas flooded in my brain as well. You can explore, expound it more and turn it into a family game. Maybe it can be turned into a board game! Who knows? You can exchange these stickers once in a while within your household similar to the story from the book, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

Spread love and positivity today! Fill the hearts of your family with the flaming love of Christ through simple acts like these.

Got other ideas on how affirmation stickers can help others? Tell me in the comments, I would love to hear it! <3

Surely, my friend Izh made these stickers with a lot of love in her heart. If you want to purchase her handmade stickers just click this link: https://shopee.ph/izhherbon
